The Kogi State government has announced its decision to implement a free exam policy for both internal and external examinations.
This development was revealed by Wemi Jones, the state commissioner for education, science, and technology, during a meeting of the national executive committee of the North Central Confederation of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) in Lokoja on Saturday.
In addition to this, the government also announced the establishment of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH). Stated, “This new university will be focused on training students in science and technology, with the ultimate goal of making education accessible to all Kogi students.”
According to Jones, the state government is prioritizing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education to fully utilize the natural resources available in the state.
“To supplement these initiatives, the government is also constructing GYB Model Science Secondary Schools across the state. These schools are being built to equip students with the necessary skills to tackle future challenges.”
