Rwamagana: Teenage pregnancies in Rwamagana district have reached over 200 since July 2022 to now, and this rise is proving to be a concern that needs to be addressed quickly, according to the Vice Mayor of Social Affairs, Jeanine Umutoni.
“This figure is high. We need a preventative solution. But the urgency is also to put young girls who are already mothers back into normal life,” she said.
She made these remarks during a meeting which aims to urge officials to approach the populations in the 14 sectors of the district so that the challenges faced can be answered.
In this regard, the Mayor of the district informs that Rwamagana reached 95.4% in the realization of his performance contracts.
“Certainly, the district has built, covered and put the doors on the 30 houses for survivors. But it still lacks the windows to put people there. The district is also preparing to harvest 650 tonnes of fully washed coffee. The district has already completed the construction of 10% of TVET Rubona. He is preparing to build the Mwurire genocide memorial,” remarked the Mayor of Rwamagana.
