ABUJA, Nigeria — The Kano State Government has restated its commitment to Nigeria’s economic transformation and renewed public health campaigns, especially polio eradication, during the 151st National Economic Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja.
Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo represented Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at Thursday’s session chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The meeting endorsed the Renewed Hope Development Plan (2026–2030), aimed at building a $1 trillion economy.
Deliberations also centred on tackling a newly identified variant of poliovirus. Federal and state stakeholders agreed on coordinated strategies to consolidate earlier polio successes and safeguard children.
“Kano State is fully committed to supporting the Renewed Hope Plan and every initiative that promotes sustainable growth and public health,” Gwarzo said.
He stressed that Kano would continue to collaborate with the Federal Government, partners, and donors to expand opportunities for prosperity and strengthen healthcare delivery.
The Deputy Governor’s information officer, Yusuf Abubakar Ibrahim, confirmed the state’s determination to implement policies enhancing economic resilience and health outcomes.
