ABUJA, Nigeria — The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has hailed Japan’s renewed support for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) across Africa, highlighting investments under the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD).
In a statement Friday, UNFPA Nigeria said Tokyo’s contributions would drive digital health innovations, expand partnerships, and safeguard essential services for women, particularly in vulnerable communities.
“Our flagship session at TICAD 2025 underscored the urgency of deploying digital tools to broaden SRHR access,” the agency noted.
According to UNFPA, the initiative strengthens collaboration between African governments, Japanese businesses, and health advocates, while ensuring sustainability of women’s healthcare delivery.
The session brought together global leaders, policymakers, and innovators, underscoring Japan’s long-term commitment to bridging healthcare gaps with technology-driven solutions.
