YOBE, Nigeria – The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), in partnership with Action Against Hunger (ACF), has disbursed over ₦80 million in cash-for-food assistance to 898 households devastated by recent flooding and windstorms in three local government areas.
SEMA officials disclosed the relief during a Thursday monitoring exercise, noting that 329 households in Fika, 340 in Potiskum, and 229 in Fune have benefited from the intervention.
Executive Secretary, SEMA, Dr. Mohammed Goje, described the initiative as “timely and lifesaving,” commending ACF for its support. “These interventions reaffirm our commitment to restoring hope and rebuilding lives,” he said.
The distribution is part of the Food Security and Livelihood programme designed to cushion the impact of natural disasters. Earlier this year, SEMA had also provided cash-for-rent assistance to families displaced by flooding.
Officials pledged continued collaboration with humanitarian partners to mobilise resources and strengthen resilience in affected communities.
