Nigerian Air Force Provides Free Healthcare to 11,000 Residents

IMO, Nigeria – Over 11,000 residents of Imo State have benefited from free healthcare services provided by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), including 846 surgical procedures and over 11,200 consultations.

The large-scale outreach, conducted in Mbaise and surrounding areas throughout August, also distributed 1,300 eyeglasses, walking aids, and crutches to residents.

The initiative was carried out in partnership with the Nwagwu Health Initiative.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, said the programme demonstrates the Air Force’s commitment beyond national defence. “Our people deserve care and compassion wherever they are, and we are determined to provide both,” he stated.

Representing the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Ibikunle Daramola described the intervention as proof that the military is “a partner in nation building, not only a defence force.”

Project Coordinator, Air Vice Marshal Uche Nwagwu, credited the success to strong collaboration between the military and local partners, saying it produced results “beyond expectations.”

The outreach also featured health education sessions on hygiene, maternal care, and disease prevention.

NAF confirmed that similar programmes will continue nationwide under its Civil-Military Cooperation strategy.
