The United States Mission in Nigeria has issued a stern warning to Nigerian students studying in the U.S., cautioning that any breach of their student visa terms — including skipping classes, dropping out, or leaving school without notice — could lead to visa revocation and affect future visa eligibility.
In a notice published Monday on its official website, the mission emphasised that strict compliance with immigration rules is non-negotiable for all international students.
“If you drop out, skip classes, or leave your programme of study without informing your school, your student visa may be revoked, and you may lose eligibility for future U.S. visas,” the advisory stated.
The embassy urged students to maintain active enrollment and stay in communication with their designated school officials. “Always adhere to the terms of your visa and maintain your student status to avoid any issues,” it added.
This advisory comes amid heightened scrutiny of immigration pathways, as the U.S. ramps up enforcement of student visa regulations. The message is clear: educational ambition must be matched with regulatory compliance.
