The Defence Headquarters says troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria recorded significant gains in the ongoing military operations across various theatres in July, including the elimination of top terrorist commanders, arrest of hundreds of suspects, rescue of kidnapped victims, and disruption of oil theft activities worth over ₦1.3 billion.
Director of Defence Media Operations Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed this during a press briefing on Friday in Abuja.
In the North-East, troops of Operation HADIN KAI killed several Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents in Borno and Adamawa States, arrested eight terrorists, and rescued two kidnap victims. Between July 22–30, air and ground components also dismantled insurgents’ networks and retrieved arms.
In the North-West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, troops killed multiple terrorists across Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, and Kebbi States, arrested nine suspects, and rescued six kidnap victims.
Operation SAFE HAVEN in the North Central recorded successes in Plateau and Kaduna, where troops killed extremists, rescued seven victims, and arrested eight criminals, including notorious extremist Dayabu Idris.
Troops under Operation WHIRL STROKE in Benue, Kogi, Niger, and FCT neutralized several terrorists, arrested 17, and rescued three victims, while recovering weapons and motorcycles.
Meanwhile, Operation DELTA SAFE in the South-South foiled oil theft worth ₦1.31bn. Troops destroyed 73 illegal refining sites, arrested 285 oil thieves, and recovered 974,976 litres of crude oil and other petroleum products.
In the South-East, troops of Operation UDO KA arrested IPOB/ESN members and cultists in Enugu, Imo, and Cross River States, eliminating one suspect who attempted to flee.
Gen. Kangye reaffirmed the military’s commitment to professionalism, rule of law, and the protection of lives and property, adding, “Every operation is driven by discipline, intelligence, and the support of the Nigerian people.”
