Hussaini Kafi in Kano
The Kano State House of Assembly on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, urged the state government to establish a Community College of Midwifery in a southern local government to improve maternal healthcare and tackle youth unemployment.
Presenting the motion during plenary, Member representing Kiru, Alhaji Usman Tasiu, said: “This college will reduce maternal deaths, strengthen healthcare, and provide jobs for our youths.”
Supporting him, Member for Takai, Dr Musa Kachako, noted: “It will promote health education and attract development partners.”
The House unanimously adopted the motion.
In another motion, Member for Dambatta, Murtala Musa Kore, sought urgent renovation of the Government Technical College in his constituency, describing its condition as “deplorable.”
Member for Doguwa, Salisu Muhammad, added: “We must modernize the curriculum to meet global standards.”
The House also debated flooding in Zakirai Ward, as Member for Gabasawa, Zakariyya Nuhu, warned of water contamination risks.
