Troops of the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 1 Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, have arrested 183 suspected internet fraudsters in a coordinated raid in Warri, Delta State.
The operation, which took place on July 19, 2025, followed credible intelligence on the suspects’ activities.
Captain Iliyasu Bawa Rijau, who signed the press release, stated that “The suspects, all males between the ages of 16 and 29, were arrested in some apartments that served as an internet fraud training center within the area.”
Items recovered during the raid include 274 assorted laptops, 87 mobile phones, nine laptop chargers, a table phone, and two WiFi devices.
According to Captain Rijau, “The suspects and the recovered items are currently on preliminary investigation and necessary action,” adding that the Nigerian Army remains committed to eradicating cybercrime and related criminal acts across the region.
In a related operation, troops also apprehended a suspected cultist, Mr. Igbe Lucky Chika, aged 26, at Ezionun Community.
“Items recovered from the suspect include a locally made firearm, an axe, a cutlass, two mobile phones, and a Toyota Camry with registration number Delta ASB 41 BE,” the statement noted.
Commander 63 Brigade, Brigadier General MA Shonibare, praised the troops’ diligence and urged residents to support ongoing efforts to secure the region.
