The Federal Government has officially set 16 years as the minimum age for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
This was announced by the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, on Tuesday during the policy meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Abuja, who also reiterated that the official entry age of 16 for tertiary institutions is non-negotiable.
He warned that any admission conducted outside the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) would be deemed illegal, with perpetrators facing prosecution.
