Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Sunday launched the distribution of 79,200 bags of fertiliser to farmers across the state’s 44 LGAs at a 50 per cent discount.
Speaking at the Al-Yuma Fertilizer Plant in Madobi LGA, the governor said the initiative aimed to boost food production during the 2025 wet season.
“Today, we’re not just distributing fertiliser, but planting seeds of self-reliance, economic prosperity, and collective dignity,” Yusuf stated.
According to his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, three trucks—600 bags each—were allocated to every LGA.
The governor highlighted his administration’s ongoing support for agriculture, noting the rehabilitation of irrigation schemes across 11 LGAs and the development of 1,250 hectares of farmland.
He added, “Construction of a new dam at Dansoshiya in Kiru LGA is a landmark in our quest for year-round farming.”
Yusuf expressed confidence the subsidised fertiliser would boost productivity and food security.
