The Justice Deinde Dipeolu Federal High Court, Lagos has convicted one Emmanuel Ayodele Areola. He was arraigned on a one-count charge of hawking Naira notes totalling ₦1,061,500 in various denominations, an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 21(4) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act, 2007.

Following his plea, prosecution counsel H.U. Kofarnaisa reviewed the facts of the case and tendered the defendant’s statement as evidence. She urged the court to convict the defendant and order the forfeiture of the recovered funds to the Federal Government.
Justice Dipeolu convicted Areola and ordered the forfeiture of the sum involved. The court further sentenced him to enter into a recognisance of good behaviour with the EFCC.
