Panic gripped residents of Kano on Monday after a young man climbed a tall advertising billboard at Gadar Lado along Zaria Road and threatened to take his own life.
In a statement on his Facebook page, sighted by AHR correspondent in Kano, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the man vowed to jump if certain TikTok celebrities he follows failed to show up at the scene.
“Security operatives are currently making efforts to rescue him alive,” Kiyawa wrote. “He specifically mentioned that if the celebrities he follows on TikTok don’t come, he will jump. May Allah prevent it.”
The development attracted a large crowd of onlookers, while emergency responders and security personnel moved in swiftly to manage the situation.
