The Lagos State Government has restated its dedication to producing world-class professionals, with a special focus on the health and education sectors, in line with its T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus agenda.

This was highlighted during the third matriculation ceremony of the Lagos State College of Nursing, Igando, for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Speaking at the event on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule—represented by the Permanent Secretary, Adeniran Kasali—stressed the significance of the ceremony, describing it as “the beginning of a new era for the college, especially with the appointment of a new provost by the governor.”

He further commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his continued support for health and environmental development.

At the event, the state government urged students to adopt a forward-looking mindset driven by technology and innovation, which are crucial for success in today’s global landscape.

Sule’s representative encouraged the matriculating students to stay focused and creative.

“The commissioner enjoined the students to remain focused, steadfast, creative and be technically driven with innovation as the world is a global village and the 21st century is about technology development and advancement,” the statement noted, highlighting the government’s vision for a technologically empowered workforce.

The newly appointed Provost of the College, Dr. Ayodeji Ogunmuyiwa, used the occasion to inspire the students towards excellence in their studies and future careers. Ogunmuyiwa urged them to take full advantage of the resources available to them.

“She admonished the students to ensure their academic growth and professional aspirations by utilising the wealth of resources at their disposal, including mentorship programmes, entrepreneurial initiatives, academic advisory services and extensive clinical training opportunities,” the statement said, underscoring the college’s commitment to holistic student development.
