The Federal Government (FG) has warned that the escalating hostilities between Iran and Israel pose a significant threat to global peace, economic stability, and civilian safety, urging immediate international intervention.
In a statement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, expressed deep concern over the ongoing cycle of missile and drone attacks between the two nations, cautioning that continued retaliation could ignite a wider regional crisis.
“The continued exchange of hostilities between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the State of Israel is deeply troubling. This conflict not only threatens lives in the Middle East but also risks destabilizing international security and the global economy,” Tuggar said.
He called on both countries to exercise “maximum restraint” and underscored the need for diplomacy rather than military escalation.
“No meaningful solution can emerge from violence,” he stated. “Only through dialogue, mutual respect, and strict adherence to international law can sustainable peace be achieved.”
The FG further appealed to the United Nations Security Council and the broader international community to step up diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating the situation.
Tuggar reaffirmed Nigeria’s readiness to support all credible initiatives geared toward reducing tensions and promoting long-term peace in the region.
