The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, has lauded the Ogun II Area Command for achieving a 40% increase in revenue, describing it as a notable contribution to national development.
During a working visit to the Command Headquarters in Abeokuta on Wednesday, Adeniyi praised the leadership of Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Bisi Alade, and assured that operational challenges raised would receive attention.
“Ogun State is a strategic location in Nigeria, and the Governor is clearly repositioning the state for industrial growth,” Adeniyi said, commending Governor Dapo Abiodun’s industrial foresight.
In his address, Comptroller Alade noted that the Command generated ₦15.19 billion between January and April 2025, up from ₦9.17 billion in the same period last year.
He attributed the growth to efficient oversight of the Command’s three Free Trade Zones, 67 excise factories, and one bonded terminal.
“Your presence here today, sir, is not only encouraging but also a strong indication of your commitment to every arm of the Service,” Alade told the CGC, stressing that the visit had boosted morale.
He highlighted ongoing challenges, including inadequate vehicles, medical equipment, housing renovations, and power supply improvements.
Adeniyi, in response, urged officers to remain dedicated and enhance their professionalism to sustain the gains recorded so far.
He emphasised the importance of continuous learning, noting, “Competence, knowledge, and dedication are essential to effectively discharging the Service’s responsibilities.”
The CGC also assured the Ogun State government and people of the Customs Service’s unwavering support in driving economic prosperity, while encouraging deeper collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders.
