A former Chief of Army Staff and ex-Nigerian Ambassador to Benin Republic, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (retd.), has debunked reports claiming he was attacked by Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.

Reacting through a statement issued on Monday by his spokesman and former Army spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman (retd.), Buratai described the reports as “mischievous and utterly false.”

Usman stated that the retired general spent the Eid-el-Kabir celebration in Abuja with family and friends, and had not travelled to Borno or been involved in any security breach.

“To avoid doubt, he celebrated the Eid festivities peacefully in Abuja and has remained within the Federal Capital Territory since then,” the statement read.

Usman slammed the originators of the report, describing them as “reckless purveyors of fake news” whose aim was to spread fear and misinformation.

He extended appreciation to concerned Nigerians who reached out with messages of support and prayers, describing their goodwill as “deeply cherished.”

He further urged Nigerians to disregard the false claims, adding that no amount of propaganda can dent the image of a man who has dedicated his life to national service.
