In a bid to improve access to healthcare and foster stronger community ties, the Apapa Local Government Area of Lagos State on Saturday organized a free medical outreach at the palace of Oba Ijora and Iganmu Kingdom.
The outreach, held in the heart of the Ijora Oloye community, featured a range of services including eye screenings, free eyeglasses, blood pressure and sugar level checks, HIV screening, health education, and general consultations.
Chairman of the council, Hon. Adejumoke Idowu Sebanjo, emphasized the initiative’s alignment with the council’s commitment to public welfare.
“One of the missions of the port city council is to ensure that we reach out to our surrounding communities to show goodwill and build good relationships with members of the public,” she stated in the release signed by Oputeh Michael, Public Affairs Officer of Health District IV.
Also speaking during the outreach, Director of Medical Services, Lagos State Health District IV, Dr. Oludolapo Sotunde, explained the broader vision of the initiative.
“This will enable them (the council) provide sufficient service to those that patronise the outreach,” he said.
“It is a free medical outreach which enables the council to build strong community relations between the Local Government and the surrounding general public”, he added.
