FG Declares June 6 and 9 Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Adha, Urges National Unity, Sacrifice

The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 6 and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. He extended warm congratulations to Muslims across Nigeria and the diaspora on the occasion of the Islamic festival.

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Monday, the Minister called on the Muslim faithful to reflect on the values of Eid-ul-Adha.

“As we mark this important celebration, I urge the Muslim Ummah to continue to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice, love, and unwavering faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon him),” he said.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period to offer prayers for peace, stability, and prosperity across the country.

Commenting on the broader vision of the Federal Government, he assured citizens that ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda are aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable development.

“These people-focused initiatives are designed to return Nigeria to the path of progress,” the Minister emphasized.

While wishing Muslims a joyous Eid-ul-Adha, he appealed to all Nigerians, regardless of religion or background, to support the government’s efforts to rebuild the nation.

“Let us come together, in unity and purpose, to restore the glory of our great nation,” he concluded
