The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice has strongly denied allegations made by the spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Paul Ibe, during a national television interview.

In the interview, Ibe insinuated that the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Solicitor General of the Federation met with both a former and a sitting governor from the South-South region just 48 hours before their defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Though he did not name individuals, the Office of the AGF described the remarks as contemptuous and misleading.

Reacting to the claims, Special Assistant to the President on Communication and Publicity for the Office of the AGF, Kamarudeen Ogundele, categorically refuted the allegations in a statement on Friday.

“The allegation is from the pit of hell, and at best, a figment of the imagination of Mr. Ibe,” Ogundele stated. He emphasized that there was no meeting between the EFCC chairman, the Solicitor General, and any serving or former governor, as insinuated by Ibe.

The Office condemned the statements as a desperate attempt to tarnish the image of those leading the fight against corruption.

Ogundele further urged Nigerians to disregard the claims, affirming the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to transparency and the rule of law.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration will continue to uphold the rule of law and will not falter in the fight against corruption, no matter whose ox is gored,” he said.
