The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has unveiled a new three-year strategic development blueprint aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s basic education sector for improved quality and efficiency.
Executive Secretary of UBEC, Aisha Garba, announced the plan tagged UBEC 2025-2027 Strategic Blueprint during a two-day Management Retreat held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
According to a statement by UBEC’s Public Relations Officer, David Apeh, the retreat brought together Directors, Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, and Chief Education Officers from across the Commission’s national, zonal, and state offices.
The key objective, the statement said, was to align stakeholders on the implementation roadmap for the new strategy and build consensus around improved monitoring, evaluation, and operational leadership within the Commission.
Garba, in her remarks, stressed the importance of stronger collaboration across departments and with other education agencies. She emphasized the need for context-specific workplans tailored to state-level realities but aligned with national priorities.
The Commission also acknowledged its technical partners Solina, KPMG, and Lagos Business School for providing expert support in leadership development, performance management, and conflict resolution sessions during the retreat.
