In a developing story, popular social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been detained by the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja.
The incident reportedly occurred at the headquarters of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), on Friday, raising concerns about the legality of his arrest.
The lawyer representing VeryDarkMan, Deji Adeyanju, expressed deep discontent over the manner of the arrest. “VeryDarkMan was taken into custody after a conversation with police officers, yet no lawful grounds for detainment were provided,” Adeyanju stated.
He labelled the arrest as “absolutely unacceptable,” emphasizing that it violates VDM’s fundamental right to demand accountability from public officials.
Adeyanju further asserted, “Demanding accountability is a basic right in a democratic society and should not be met with criminal repercussions.”
