The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has closed Myra Event Centre in the Guzape District of Abuja due to ongoing noise pollution and other infractions.
The closure was announced on Thursday by the Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), Mr. Felix Obuah, who stated that the action aligns with the administration’s broader environmental protection drive. “A significant action to uphold environmental laws”, he said.
Myra Event Centre, situated at Plot 135, Mustapha Bello Street, Guzape District, has been causing environmental disturbances, especially during the night,” stated Obuah. “As a result, the centre is closed effective immediately and will stay closed until further notice.
The AMMC coordinator stated that the enforcement action is part of a continuous initiative aimed at addressing environmental violations that endanger public health and disturb the tranquility of neighborhoods in the Federal Capital Territory.
Obuah stressed, “We maintain a strict no-tolerance stance on any actions that threaten public health and disrupt community harmony. Event centers are required to adhere to environmental regulations, particularly regarding noise control.”
Obuah also sent a serious warning to other event venues in Abuja: “Any venue that engages in noise pollution will be shut down immediately.”
He urged residents of the FCT to take an active part in protecting their environment by reporting any violations to the authorities using the official AMMC channels.
“Safeguarding our environment is a shared duty. We encourage residents to voice their concerns and report any incidents of environmental harm for the benefit of the community,” Obuah stated.
