Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has applauded former vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for his public endorsement of President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka on Wednesday, Wike described the move as “another endorsement of the president’s good governance and commitment to the development of the country.”

He further urged other Nigerians who are undecided to rally behind the President in the interest of national unity.

Wike emphasized that Okowa’s support vindicates his own position during the 2023 presidential election. “The open endorsement of the President by Ifeanyi Okowa, who was the running mate to Atiku Abubakar, is a vindication of the position I took in 2023, which was based on the interest of a united Nigeria,” he stated.

The Minister praised both Dr. Okowa and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for what he described as a “heart-warming decision,” attributing their support to President Tinubu’s efforts toward good governance and national unity.

Expressing satisfaction that others are now recognizing Tinubu’s leadership, Wike said, “I am particularly happy that what I saw before the 2023 presidential election, others are now seeing and are joining the Renewed Hope train.”

He criticized political opportunism, urging leaders to voice their support early rather than only during crises. “They have come out at the right time to show support for the President so that the people of Niger Delta can benefit more from the government, and I commend them,” he added.
