Easter: Edo Governor Pays April Salaries, Pensions Early

The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved and disbursed April salaries and pensions to civil servants and retirees across the state ahead of the Easter celebration.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the early payment is aimed at easing financial pressures on workers and pensioners, enabling them to celebrate the Easter holiday with dignity.

“This administration understands the significance of Easter in the lives of our people,” the statement read. “We want our workers and senior citizens to celebrate with dignity and without financial worries. This is the least we can do to appreciate their hard work and years of service to our dear state.”

Itua stated that the prompt payment reflects Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to people-centred governance and to prioritising the welfare of citizens, especially during key religious and cultural festivities.

He added that the state government’s consistent fiscal discipline and transparent management of public funds have made early disbursements possible despite prevailing economic challenges.
