Niger Security, Judicial Officials Pledge Information Sharing to Aid EFCC Operations

Security and judicial stakeholders in Niger State have pledged to support the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) through enhanced intelligence sharing and collaboration to combat economic and financial crimes.

The commitment was made during a familiarisation visit by the Acting Director of the EFCC Kaduna Zonal Directorate, Bawa Usman Kaltungo, to heads of security agencies and judicial authorities in the state. The visits included meetings with the Commissioner of Police, Director of the DSS, sector commanders of the FRSC, NSCDC, and NDLEA, as well as top judiciary officials.

According to a statement issued by the spokesperson for the commission Dele Oyewale on Wednesday, the stakeholders identified illegal mining and cybercrime as critical issues in the state, vowing to support the EFCC’s efforts with timely intelligence and operational coordination.

Kaltungo also visited the Chief Judge of Niger State, Justice Halima Abdulmalik, and the state’s Attorney General, Barr. Nasiru Mua’zu, who assured that the judiciary would continue to provide legal backing and support to the Commission in prosecuting offenders.

Kaltungo emphasized that effective information sharing and stakeholder engagement are vital to the EFCC’s success, stressing that collaboration across sectors will enhance the fight against economic crimes and reduce criminal safe havens.
