The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has called on healthcare workers in Nigeria to maintain professionalism and integrity in service delivery.

This information was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Spokesperson of the Commission, Demola Bakare.

During a visit to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, the Commission’s Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner (RACC) for Lagos State, Mr. Chukwurah Alexander, stressed the need for ethical conduct in the sector.

“The manner in which you perform your duties directly influences public trust in governance,” he said, emphasizing that transparency and accountability are crucial in healthcare.

Chief Medical Director of FMC-Ebute-Metta, Dr. Adedamola Dada, welcomed the ICPC delegation and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to ethical standards.

He highlighted key achievements, including the transition to a fully paperless electronic medical system and a 24-hour power supply, which were introduced to enhance service efficiency and curb corruption.

“These initiatives are aimed at improving transparency and ensuring better healthcare delivery,” Dr. Dada stated, assuring the Commission of the hospital’s dedication to upholding anti-corruption principles.

The visit is part of the ICPC’s broader efforts to reinforce accountability in public institutions. Mr. Alexander reiterated the importance of continuous education on anti-corruption laws and ethical best practices, noting that integrity should be upheld even when unobserved.

The Commission said it would continue to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to strengthen governance and promote transparency across healthcare facilities nationwide.
