The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has strongly condemned the gruesome killing of 16 travelers from Northern Nigeria in Uromi, Edo State, describing the incident as an unjustified act of mob violence.
The victims, mostly Hausa hunters, returning to Kano from Port Harcourt, Rivers State were reportedly attacked and killed based on false accusations of kidnapping.
According to report, the travelers were brutally attacked.
The AYCF has labeled the incident as barbaric and has called for immediate investigations to bring those responsible to justice.
In a statement issued on Friday, the forum demanded swift and decisive action against individuals who incited and participated in the killings.
It urged authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
While condemning the violence, the AYCF also appealed for calm among members of the Hausa community.
The AYCF extended its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting harmony and justice across the country.
The forum reiterated that Nigeria must remain a united nation where all citizens, regardless of ethnicity or region, are protected from violence and injustice.
