ATBUTH Alerts Public about Procurement Contract Scam

The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, has warned the public about a fraudulent contract scheme involving individuals impersonating its Chief Medical Director (CMD), Professor Yusuf Bara Jibrin.

In a statement on Friday, the hospital’s Head of Public Relations, Usman Koli, said scammers were falsely claiming that the CMD was awarding contracts for 200 HP laptops, supposedly approved by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare for the hospital’s digitisation program.

Koli stated, “ATBUTH Bauchi has not initiated any such procurement process through unsolicited individual offers. The CMD or any official of the hospital does not award contracts through unofficial channels.”

He added that the fraudsters have been using the phone number ‘08167069701’ to deceive unsuspecting individuals via calls, WhatsApp, and SMS.

The hospital urged the public to disregard such claims and report any suspicious contacts to authorities. Koli assured that ATBUTH is working with security agencies to track and prosecute those responsible.
