Mother of Katsina Governor, Hajiya Safara’u, Dies at 93

The mother of Katsina State Governor, Hajiya Safara’u Umaru Baribari, has passed away at the age of 93. The state government announced her death in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed.

Hajiya Safara’u, who was widely regarded as a woman of strength and wisdom, died on Saturday night. She was the mother of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda and played a significant role in shaping generations of leaders within her family and community.

Her children include Alhaji Kabir Umar Radda, the current Village Head of Radda, and Hajiya Hauwa Umar Radda, a former wife of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.

Described as a true Fulani matriarch, Hajiya Safara’u was known for her values of integrity, perseverance, and commitment to community service.

Her funeral prayer and burial are scheduled to take place today at 4:00 PM in Radda Village, Katsina State.

The government of Katsina State extended its condolences to the Radda family and prayed for Allah to grant Hajiya Safara’u eternal peace in Jannatul Firdaus.
