Renowned Kano-based industrialist and Islamic scholar, Alhaji Nasiru Ahali, has passed away at the age of 108.
Africa Health Report gathered that the deceased died on Thursday night at a hospital in Kano, following a protracted illness.
Ahali was a pioneer in Kano’s industrial sector and played a crucial role in establishing and expanding the state’s economic landscape.
Through his company, Mainasara and Sons, he contributed significantly to the development of both large- and small-scale businesses, fostering industrial growth in the state.
Beyond his contributions to industry, Ahali was deeply respected for his Islamic knowledge and philanthropic efforts.
He devoted his life and resources to religious teachings, humanitarian causes, and uplifting the less privileged in society.
Following his passing, tributes have poured in from various quarters. Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, described his death as a great loss not only to his family but also to the state, the nation, and the entire Muslim ummah.
“Alhaji Nasiru Ahali was one of the founders of industries in Kano, and his efforts greatly shaped the economic landscape of our state,” Governor Yusuf said in a statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa. “His dedication to business and community development set a standard for others to follow.”
The governor extended heartfelt condolences to Ahali’s family, praying for Allah’s mercy upon him. “On behalf of the government and people of Kano, I pray to Almighty Allah to grant his gentle soul Aljannatul Firdausi,” he added.
Similarly, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin, mourned Ahali’s passing, describing him as a patriotic citizen whose contributions to industrialization in Kano cannot be overstated.
“Malam Nasiru Ahali played a pivotal role in the development and growth of businesses in Kano,” Senator Barau said in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir. “As one of the pioneer industrialists in Kano, he helped shape the formation of formal businesses across the state through his company, Mainasara and Sons.”
He urged Ahali’s family to take solace in the fact that he lived a life of service to Allah and humanity.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of our late business icon,” he said. “May Allah SWT grant him Jannatul Firdaus and give all those he left behind the strength to bear this loss.”
