Rivers Lawmakers Frustrated Our Efforts — Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has accused members of the Rivers State House of Assembly of frustrating efforts to restore peace and stability in the state.

In a press release on Tuesday, Fubara expressed disappointment over the political crisis that led to President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency. He stated that his administration had consistently acted in good faith, prioritizing security, development, and the welfare of Rivers people.

The governor recalled how he implemented the peace agreement brokered by the President, including reinstating commissioners who had resigned and complying with a Supreme Court ruling meant to restore constitutional order. However, he lamented that despite these efforts, the House of Assembly obstructed genuine reconciliation and progress.

Fubara assured residents that governance had continued smoothly, with salaries paid, projects ongoing, and security intact. He urged the people to remain calm and law-abiding, pledging to work with relevant institutions to safeguard democracy and protect the state’s interests.

“We have always been a resilient people, and we will face this situation with wisdom, patience, and unwavering faith in the democratic process,” he stated.
