Police in Ogun State have discovered the body of a 25-year-old man, Toye Dominic, hanging from a tree in a forest near Alagbadagbo village, Ijebu Igbo Local Government Area.

The grim discovery was made on Thursday by a local hunter, Kareem Oluwalose, who immediately sought help from nearby villagers. Among those he informed was the deceased’s elder brother, Joseph Dominic, who revealed that Toye had gone to the farm earlier that morning but had not returned. A search effort by family members had proved fruitless until the tragic find.

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed that officers and villagers arrived at the scene to document evidence.

They observed that Toye had set aside his farm tools before moving deeper into the forest, where he was found hanging. However, no suicide note was discovered, and his family expressed disbelief over the incident.

“The police have documented the scene with photographic evidence, and the body has been transferred to General Hospital, Ijebu Ode, for further examination,” Odutola stated.

While the police have not confirmed whether the case was a suicide, Odutola urged the public to remain vigilant and seek support for individuals struggling with distress.

“Mental health awareness and timely intervention remain crucial in preventing such unfortunate incidents,” she emphasized.

She also extended condolences to the deceased’s family and assured them of a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his tragic death.
