Lagos Govt Moves to Revitalize Primary Health Care Centres

The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing healthcare services for its citizens by revitalizing Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) across the state.

Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting on the ongoing revitalization initiative under the IMPACT Project.

Prof. Abayomi emphasized that the government prioritizes the overhaul of PHCs, stating, “The ongoing improvements focus on upgrading infrastructure, increasing human resources, acquiring state-of-the-art equipment, and enhancing technical capacity at the primary healthcare level.”

The Commissioner assured the public that these efforts align with the government’s goal to provide affordable and accessible healthcare for all Lagosians.

He confirmed that the infrastructural renewal at select PHCs is expected to be completed within four months, demonstrating the government’s swift action to address urgent healthcare needs.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Kemi Ogunyemi, also expressed her support for the initiative, highlighting the importance of building a robust healthcare system for Lagos State residents.

Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Akinwunmi Mustafa, emphasized the significance of the IMPACT Project in revitalizing and upgrading PHCs. He noted that the project aims to improve service delivery, ensuring communities receive high-quality care.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including Permanent Secretaries, General Manager of LASIAMA, and Chairmen of Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas.
