The Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Solomon Olugbemiga Ayoade, has debunked rumours that the traditional ruler, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, has passed away.

Ayoade on Tuesday, described the rumour as false, stating that the Olubadan was “hale and healthy” when he left the palace on Monday evening. “By the time I left the palace around 8 pm, there was nothing of such incident. Things were moving well. There was no crisis,” Ayoade said.

Ayoade also dismissed rumours that the Olubadan had been flown out of Ibadan for medical attention. “Baba is still in Ibadan. He was not flown anywhere. He is doing very fine,” he assured.

The Chief Press Secretary further revealed that the Olubadan had just finished eating amala when he contacted the palace, adding that there was no cause for alarm.

Ayoade’s statement has laid to rest the rumours that had begun to circulate on Monday evening. The Olubadan’s well-being is a matter of concern for the people of Ibadanland, and Ayoade’s reassurance will come as a relief to many.
