Hussaini Kafi in Kano
The Kano State Censorship Board has ordered the closure of all Gala venues and entertainment centers across the state in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement on Thursday which was signed by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, and obtained by Africa Health Report, the directive mandates that all entertainment activities cease until the end of the fasting period.
The statement also prohibits entertainers from gathering at these venues during Ramadan, reinforcing the state’s commitment to upholding religious and cultural values.
The move is in line with Kano’s long-standing tradition of restricting social events during Ramadan, a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection observed by Muslims worldwide.
Authorities have urged compliance with the directive, warning that violators may face sanctions.
