The Lagos State Government, in collaboration with the Seun Akapo Initiative, has launched a free health insurance scheme for women in the Ikoyi-Obalende area.
The initiative was officially flagged off in a ceremony held on Ojo Street, Obalende on Friday, where representatives of both organizations highlighted the importance of accessible healthcare for all residents.
The scheme aims to improve health outcomes and ensure that no woman in the metropolis is left without essential medical coverage.
Speaking at the event, Oluwafemi Omojuwa, a representative of the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), urged beneficiaries to take full advantage of the program.
She reaffirmed LASHMA’s dedication to providing comprehensive healthcare across Lagos, saying, “I wish to reiterate LASHMA’s commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare coverage across Lagos and ensure that no resident is left behind in the state’s quest for improved health outcomes.”
She also expressed gratitude to the Seun Akapo Foundation for its role in making the initiative possible.
Dr. Oluwaseun Akapo, founder of the Seun Akapo Initiative, praised the Lagos State Government under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for its efforts in strengthening healthcare access.
“This initiative’s numerous empowerment programmes are designed to equip beneficiaries with essential skills and opportunities to thrive in today’s society,” he said.
He also highlighted the foundation’s broader commitment to education through initiatives like the Top Scholars Education Empowerment Initiative, which recently supported over 100 outstanding students.
