The ousted Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has declared his resumption as the parliament leader.

Obasa made this statement on Thursday after returning to parliament with police and State Security Service details, his first appearance since being removed on January 13.

“I’ve resumed, and I remain the Speaker of the Assembly,” Obasa confidently stated.

Obasa’s unexpected return to the assembly complex was accompanied by security personnel, who escorted him to the Speaker’s Office around noon.

This development comes on the heels of the withdrawal of security aides assigned to the current Speaker, Mojisola Meranda.

Meranda’s Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye, alleged that Obasa and his team forcibly accessed the office. However, a source within Obasa’s camp confirmed their presence at the assembly.

The battle for supremacy between Obasa and those who removed him continues to unfold. As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how this power struggle will impact the Lagos State House of Assembly.

With Obasa’s resumption, the stage is set for a potentially intense confrontation between the two factions vying for control.
