JUST IN: Kano Police Arrest 17 over Planned Violent Protest

The Kano State Police Command has arrested 17 suspected thugs over an alleged plan to stage a violent protest in the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the arrests were made following credible intelligence about the planned unrest.

He added that security personnel and assets had been strategically deployed across Kano Metropolis to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

“As a result of these proactive measures, 17 suspected thugs have been arrested, and an investigation is ongoing. The Command is committed to ensuring that the perpetrators of this planned violence are brought to justice,” the statement read.

The police also warned individuals and groups against engaging in unlawful gatherings, processions, or violence, stating that any such actions would be met with a swift and decisive response.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The command expressed appreciation for the cooperation and support of Kano residents in efforts to maintain peace and security in the state.
