A yet-to-be-identified middle-aged man was discovered hanging beside a bush along the Ibadan-Oyo expressway in the L. Adisa area of Akinyele Local Government, Ibadan.
The body, still suspended from a tree, was found on Monday morning near the back of the World Oil Petro Station. While some residents and passersby speculated that the death could have been a murder disguised as a suicide, the exact circumstances remain unclear.
Security operatives, including the Nigeria Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Western Security Network, codenamed Operation Amotekun, arrived at the scene to evacuate the corpse.
The incident has raised concerns among locals, with many seeking clarity on what truly happened. As investigations continue, authorities are urging the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, stated that an official inquiry is underway.
“The matter is undergoing investigation. Updates will be provided accordingly, please,” he said. Meanwhile, the police have assured the public that more details will be shared as soon as they emerge.
