NDLEA Arrests Thai Lady with 46.6kg of Canadian Loud at Lagos Airport, Intercepts UK-Bound Drug Shipments

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 24-year-old Thai lady, Pattaphi Wimonnat, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, for attempting to smuggle 46.6kg of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis into Nigeria.

According to a statement released by the director of media and advocacy, Femi Babafemi on Sunday, the suspect was intercepted on Thursday, February 20, 2025, during inward clearance of a Qatar Airways flight from Thailand via Doha. She confessed to being a hired drug courier and claimed she was promised $3,000 for successful delivery.

In another operation, NDLEA officers foiled an attempt to smuggle 42.2kg of Ghanaian Loud to London, UK, through concealment in crated carton walls at the Lagos airport export shed on Friday, February 21. The agency arrested three suspects, including a freight agent and two dispatch riders, before tracking down and apprehending the mastermind, Samuel Bitris, at his residence in Ajah, Lagos.

At other major operations, in Port Harcourt Port Complex (Onne, Rivers State) Seizure of 49,000 tramadol 225mg pills in a 40ft container during a joint security agency inspection on February 20. In Nasarawa State, Arrest of two suspects with 517kg of skunk in Kokona/Keffi on February 22. In Niger State, Arrest of two traffickers transporting 62.7kg of skunk in a Toyota Corolla along Sabon Asibiti Road, Kontagora, on February 20.

Meanwhile, NDLEA continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign in schools, workplaces, and communities across the country, holding sensitization lectures in Oyo, Imo, and Kogi states.
