Oluremi Tinubu Joins Organisation of African First Ladies for Development

Nigeria's First Lady

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been elected as a member of the Steering Committee of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).

The election took place during the 29th Ordinary General Assembly of OAFLAD, held in Addis Ababa alongside the 38th Ordinary Session of the African Union Summit.

Mrs. Tinubu joins an eight-member committee that provides strategic direction for OAFLAD’s initiatives across the continent. Representing West Africa alongside another member, she will serve a two-year term focused on strengthening advocacy efforts for women’s and children’s welfare.

As reported on NTV Television, on Saturday, Mrs. Tinubu, in her post-election remarks, reaffirmed her commitment to the organization’s mission. “I am honored to be given this responsibility. Together, we will continue to drive initiatives that enhance the well-being of women, children, and vulnerable groups across Africa,” she stated.

As an active voice within OAFLAD, the First Lady is expected to play a key role in implementing the organization’s 2025–2030 Strategic Framework, which aims to enhance healthcare, education, and economic opportunities for marginalized communities.

Her appointment further solidifies Nigeria’s presence in continental efforts to drive sustainable development, particularly in the areas of maternal health, education, and social inclusion.
