Nigeria to Host ICEGOV 2025 Conference, Leadership in Digital Governance

In a landmark development for Nigeria’s digital transformation, the country has been selected to host the 2025 International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance (ICEGOV).

The announcement, made by the United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV), places Nigeria at the heart of global discussions on e-Governance, digital public infrastructure, and technology-driven policymaking.

With the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) leading local organization efforts, ICEGOV 2025 is set to attract policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders from around the world. The conference is expected to boost Nigeria’s digital economy and reinforce its status as a hub for digital policy innovation in Africa.

Welcoming the development, Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, welcomed the selection, describing it as a validation of the country’s ongoing efforts in digital governance.

“Nigeria’s selection to host ICEGOV 2025 is a recognition of our efforts to drive digital transformation and innovation in governance,” Dr. Tijani said.

He also highlighted the role of research and academia in advancing Nigeria’s digital agenda, citing government initiatives such as the National AI Strategy and the National Digital Economy and e-Governance Bill as foundational steps toward a digitally empowered future.

The Ministry has urged stakeholders across government, academia, and industry to actively engage in ensuring the conference’s success.

“This is our time to showcase Nigeria’s digital achievements, thought leadership, and capacity to drive technological advancements for sustainable governance,” the Ministry stated.
