Keystone Bank Remains Safe, Fully Operational – CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reassured the public that Keystone Bank is stable and fully operational, despite a recent court order for the forfeiture of shares previously held by the bank’s shareholders to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Friday, CBN’s acting Director of Corporate Communications, Hakama Sidi Ali, addressed concerns that the court ruling may have raised among customers. “We want to assure the public that Keystone Bank is safe, sound, and remains fully functional,” the statement read.

The court’s decision merely confirmed the CBN’s previous move in January 2024 to assume control of the bank’s management following a leadership change. Since then, the CBN has closely overseen the bank’s operations to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and protect the interests of depositors.

“We are committed to maintaining the stability of the financial system, and the safety of depositors’ funds is our top priority.”

To further address customer concerns, the public is encouraged to reach out to Keystone Bank’s customer support or visit any of its branches for further assistance. “We will continue to monitor the bank’s performance and take necessary actions to safeguard the interests of depositors, staff, and stakeholders,” the statement added.
