JAMB Investigates 4 University Officials, Prosecutes 1 for Fraud

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has placed four senior university officials under investigation and placed them on its watch list, while prosecuting one for alleged involvement in admission-related malpractices.

JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this on Monday during a visit to some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in Ilorin, Kwara State. Oloyede also revealed that six CBT officials had been blacklisted for engaging in fraudulent registration practices in the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration process.

“Six CBT officials from various institutions have been permanently banned from conducting JAMB exams for life,” Oloyede stated. “We’ve documented their details and will track them wherever they go—even if they become professors or Vice-Chancellors.”

The Registrar also expressed concerns about the growing number of underaged registrants, with nearly 5,000 candidates under 16 years old already enrolled. “Parents are manipulating the system, treating their children’s education like a personal achievement,” he said, stressing that these underaged candidates must meet specific academic standards or face sanctions.

As of Monday, over 420,000 candidates had registered for the 2025/2026 UTME, with 32,435 joining on just the fifth day of registration. Oloyede commended the security measures and the collaboration with CBT centres, affirming the exercise was progressing smoothly.

“We are committed to maintaining the highest standards, and everyone involved has delivered excellently,” he added.
