ICPC Arrests NSCDC Commander, Ex-Naval Admiral over Alleged ₦3bn Fraud

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arrested Adam Imam Yusuf, a Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State, over an alleged diversion of ₦3 billion in public funds.

According to a statement sent to Africa Health Report (AHR) on Friday by the spokesperson for the commission Demola Bakare, Yusuf was apprehended at his residence in Gwagwalada, Abuja, and is set to face prosecution. According to ICPC investigations, the alleged fraud was orchestrated by former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin (rtd.), in collaboration with Yusuf and former Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka Gangum (rtd.).

The commission uncovered that the funds were funnelled through 92 unregistered companies to siphon public money. Investigators linked the diverted funds to Lahab Integrated, Gate Coast Properties, and other firms allegedly used to acquire at least 18 properties, including filling stations.

As part of the ongoing legal proceedings, four of the identified properties have been forfeited to the government, while the ICPC intensifies its search for other individuals connected to the case.
