The Department of State Services (DSS) has invited two lawmakers from the Lagos State House of Assembly, Lanre Afinni and Sylvester Ogunkelu, for questioning over their alleged involvement in the speakership crisis rocking the Assembly.

The crisis began on January 13, 2025, when former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa was removed by a majority of lawmakers, following allegations of misconduct and financial misappropriations.

He was replaced by Mojisola Meranda, the former deputy speaker of the House.

Their invitation on Thursday has sparked a show of solidarity from other lawmakers, who accompanied Afinni and Ogunkelu to the DSS office in the Magodo area of Lagos.

A DSS source revealed that the lawmakers were “just invited for questioning,” but details of their invitation remain sketchy.

The development has raised concerns about the ongoing crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly and the role of the DSS in resolving the issue.
