The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa has emphasized the power of kinetic and non-kinetic methods to defeating terrorists in their games. He also pledged commitment to restoring peace in the Lake Chad Basin region. “He pledged to do more in order to restore lasting peace in the Lake Chad Basin”, a statement said.
Speaking at the 5th meeting of the Lake Chad Basin Governors Forum in Maiguguri, Borno state the Defence Chief said that he wished to see the Internally Displaced Persons returned to their homes and called for the fusion of the Kinetic and non- kinetic campaigns to winning the war against criminalities in the region so as to achieve appreciable result.
Similarly, the CDS in his address at the occasion held on Wednesday, called for Unity of purpose amongst the leaders and other critical actors to allow the lake Chad region to flourish.
The CDS said he is at the meeting to further appreciate members for the support extended to the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the Multinational Joint Task Force.
General Musa described the meeting of the governors as timely and pledged to do more in order to restore lasting peace in the Lake Chad Basin. He gave further assurance of the commitment of the Armed Forces to assist the governors to fully address security problems in the region.
In a statement signed by the director, defence information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the defence boss called on all leaders of the region at all levels work in harmony in order to salvage security challenges.
The Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima represented President Bola Tinubu, Governors of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa and Governors from Niger Republic, Chad and Cameroun attended the occasion.
