The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announces a major disruption to law admissions in the 2025/2026 academic session, affecting eight Nigerian universities.
The board, in a statement released Tuesday, confirms it will not process Law programme admissions at Kwara State University, Bingham University, Redeemers University, Western Delta University, Taraba State University, Arthur Jarvis University, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, and the Nigerian Police Academy.
This suspension follows the Council of Legal Education’s (CLE) decision to halt the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme at these institutions for the next academic session. “JAMB will not approve any admissions for candidates seeking to enrol in the Law programme at the affected universities,” Public Communications Advisor, JAMB, Fabian Benjamin, stated.
The suspension will particularly impact the Nigerian Police Academy, where Law programme admissions will remain closed for two academic sessions, spanning both 2025/2026 and 2026/2027. “The CLE’s decision necessitates JAMB’s action to ensure alignment with legal education standards,” Benjamin added.
